The 4 Clearances Required for Breeding

Before responsible breeding, 4 clearances are required that we fulfill.

  1. Examination for Hip Dysplasia – Submitted to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), radiographs are performed by a veterinarian. An evaluation is done in order to obtain the dogs hip rating and a registered number for this rating is assigned to the dog with a certificate from the OFA
  2. Examination for Elbow Dysplasia – Submitted to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), radiographs are performed by a veterinarian. An evaluation is done in order to obtain the dogs elbow rating and a registered number for this rating is assigned to the dog with a certificate from the OFA
  3. Examination for Heart Defects – Hearts are examined by a Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist. A certificate is written and signed upon examination. Information and results are register with the OFA in their Congenital Cardiac Database.
  4. Examination for Eye Defects – Eyes are examined by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist. Information and results are registered with the CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation)
